Variable-ratio Power Steering (Code 501).
Standard with power steering only on all 1968 Executive, Bonneville and Grand Prix models, this new feature provides a faster rate of turn as the steering wheel is rotated. Because it requires fewer turns, variable-ratio power steering responds faster during parking maneuvers without changing driver effort. Variable-ratio power steering adapts to different driving situations by using the steering gear ratio that's most efficient.

Another feature promoting driving comfort and safety. Adjusts to seven different positions (six in Firebird). Available at extra cost on all series equipped with power steering. Not available with 3-speed manual transmission column shift.

Front Wheel Disc Brakes (Code 521).
Benefits of this feature are: surer, smoother stops and reduced brake fade under normal conditions. These brakes consist of a ventilated disc attached to the hub flange, plus two shoes straddling the disc on each side and a hydraulic system connecting to the brake pedal. In response to pedal pressure, the shoes force against the disc and produce constant braking pressure. This wiping action keeps the discs dry and clean. Available at extra cost - for front wheels only - on all 1968 series.
