Rodger 68 350 First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List .......................................................................... ok i was stranded last night for 3 hours because my car wouldnt start. I had power so i figured its the solenoid. Finally a good old boy stopped and showed me how to bypass the solenoid with a screwdriver. All he did was = lay it across the positive battery cable post on the solenoid terminal post = and the closest terminal (drivers side)and i cranked it at the same time and = it started right up! This takes 2 people as one is under the car and the = other inside. I drove home no problem and right away jacked the car up and dropped the starter. brad 67 400 convert

I keep a pretty low profile (until Joe Geigel shows up with beer) but = every once in a while I pipe up. I'm in the Mill Creek,WA area about 20 Mi. N of Seattle. My cars include = a '69 428 Convert. Firebird and a '69 GTO, blue with Ghost Flames. I just booked a Blues Band called "Unknown Authority" to play at our B-B-Q and = Car display Sat. Aug. 18th. This is a little prelude to the All Pontiac car = show in Everett, WA. Sunday Aug. 19th. I believe the location is the Everett Mall. The NW GTO Legends www.northwestlegends.com and Western Washington Firebirds www.firebirdclub.com are only two of the local car clubs that = will be attending. This will be a big deal for those of us on the West Coast. We're expecting cars from Canada, Oregon, and Eastern Washington as well. We can't just drive over and attend all those awesome Pontiac shows in the Midwest and East coast so we'll have one here! By the way, can someone let me know who makes and/or sells the aluminum radiators for first gen. Firebirds? I heard that this was advertised on = the Classical Pontiac web site but I couldn't find it. I'm expecting around = 450 HP from my 428 so I need a good radiator. Also, I don't want to pay $450 for a BeCool Radiator. From: "x1r1 x" <x1r1@hotmail.com> Date: Fri, 02 Feb 2001 19:00:29 -0800 My starter says NASCAR on it, and I do that about every 10th time I start the car. Leave the ignition in the on position, and reach in from above with a 2" paint scraper. It is kinda tight with the headers, but It takes = me less than 30 seconds, and hardly even bothers me now. I am going to pull the 350 tomorrow, and maybe sunday the 455 will go in. Only missing two things, rear galley oil plug that goes next to distrib, and the nipple or whatever that goes into the head on the back right, which conects the head to the heater core. My heater core is diconnected. Wouldn't mind just blocking off that passage witha freeze plug, but am not sure if water needs to circulate through there. tim getting ready to lite em up 455 2.56 rear!
