I would vote for attending the Trans Am Nationals. I've gone to this show for the past 3 years. The folks in Dayton do a tremendous job and there are plenty of First Gen Firebirds in attendance. I know that it would be hard for our friends on the left and right coast; but it is the only show I know of that has such large concentration of Firebird savvy enthusiasts. My $.02 worth. (back) Subject: RE: Windshield wiper motor/linkage From: "Mark Wurtzel" <mwurtzel@flash.net> Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2001 18:33:36 -0800 Thanks so much for checking for me, John!!! I_think_ I'm following you. Initially I installed the motor, ran the = motor, shut it off and then put the wiper arms on the shaft at this point = (thinking this was the 'parked' position). When I tried to activate the wipers, = they tried to go _down_ onto the cowl as opposed to _up_ onto the windscreen. = It sounds like I may have just mounted them 90 degrees to low so to speak. That is, if I installed them at 9 o'clock on the shafts, I should have instead installed them at 12 o'clock, right? This part makes sense but where I'm losing you is what is going to cause them to stop in the proper parked position as opposed to sticking up on = the windscreen? I know if you turn off the ignition, they will stop at any position on the windscreen. However, I thought when you turned off the wiper switch, they automatically completed the cycle until ending up in = the parked position. I'm certain you have the solution, I just cannot figure out how this last part will work but I'll give it a try tonight and maybe when I have everything there in my hands I will be better able to visualize it! Pretty unusual mechanism, though isn't it? At least it is to me as I've never really looked at a wiper motor and just always sort of presumed that the motor itself alternated direction (as opposed to always spinning on = one direction). Thanks again for taking the time to check this out for me, I really appreciate it! I'll give it a try tonight. Mark John wrote: > Mark - I figured out what you did wrong. There's also another one out with the name of a female tennis star ( don't remember which one) and comes as a "name".jpg.vbs file. Everyone keep your Norton updated. it will travel up your complete mailing list them to theirs.Etc Got one last night. My dads gotten 4 in last week. thank you Norton. Gary

As to WHY??... well, I trying to put a = T.P.I. 350, 700r4, and it's whole wiring harness into a ... ahem... 68 RS Camaro. Roy, I would suggest an excellent manual to you and anyone else doing a late model EFI to an early body. Its by JTR (Jags That Run) This companies forte is doing engine transplants then writing the book. They also make some products for the S10 V-8 . Having done a 94 Firebird SFI into my sons 83 S10 Blazer 4x4 with the help of this book, Id highly recommend it. Gary

(back) Subject: Re: Air in brake lines. From: <jupoa@cyberpass.net> Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2001 19:52:47 -0800 Rowan Thanks for the in-depth response to my MGB brake problem. Yeah, one = of the wheel cylinders weeped a little, so I replaced the seals and bleed it = again. No help. About 10 years ago I rebuilt the calipers and wheel cylinders but not = the master cylinder. I like your idea of a substitute rather than an OEM replacement or rebuild. It already has an Oldsmobile engine and a Camero transmission, why not Toyota brakes? Your brothers Triumph conversion is remarkable. That he could = engineer it and build it so quickly is incredible. My conversion is more conventional. A small 63 Olds aluminum block = V8, a 86 Camero 5 speed and an MGC rear. A lot of MGB/Triumph conversions were = very similar. The hardest part was keeping it cool. No room for a large = radiator, so I built headers from scratch to position the collectors in the wheel = well just behind the shocks. That plus some insulation on the portion of the = headers under the hood more than did the trick. If you get a chance, ask your brother what kind of master cylinder he = used. Thanks again Glenn

Kind of like a shock absorber. This could actually >act as a cusion just like a shock works and then reform to its original >state. Similar to a Saturn's body structure. >Mace >69 350 Drop-Top > Of course they could. But the problem is not the car clipping the = lengthwise wall. Think about it, the same thing happens whether it is concrete, or = some shock absorbing system. Either way the car is going to rebound off and be slowed down in a fraction of a second. The problem, and the injuries come when cars slam into the corners...or the straight-away walls for that matter...going 180 or even 100mph. Say the engineers did come up with a = wall that would take that impact and the wall would restore to it's original, = or close to, shape. How much should that wall deform? You've got the mass of = the car times the deceleration of the car acting as a force on that wall, and on that person. All of this would have to happen in a fraction of a second. For this to actually work the wall would have to deform by a large = amount, enough to decelerate the car less violently. Engineers have looked = at this, it's not something that has just been discarded. The crash = barriers you see on the road are mostly just barrels of water that slow you down instead of bringing you to an immediate hault. It might work for the occurences where the race cars brush the wall, or scrape against the wall but isn't that what the walls pretty much do now? I personally think that the walls should have a certain force they can = take before collapsing, and outside of the wall an area of material that = absorbs the shock like the tires in a CART or Indy race. The section of wall would = have to be easily replaced obviously, but would people suffer through an hour or so of inactivity to save lives??? I don't think so... They'd probably change the channel and we know how networks don't like = that. Anyway, these are the late night rantings of a college engineering student = who went downtown to the bars for the evening. Everyone have a great day = at work or wherever... Could possibly stir up some interesting conversation also. Matt _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
