(back) Subject: Steering Wheels From: <Framair@aol.com> Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2001 22:55:41 EDT Speaking of Steering Wheels... I see that a used Deluxe Steering Wheel (black) for a '68 Firebird recently sold for over $400 on E-Bay. This wheel had no rim cracks but did have (2) significant (in my opinion) splits on the hub. A friend recently came across a stash of NOS parts including (5) NOS '68 Wood Wheels. He's asking $550 ea. Seems ridiculous to me but then, if the used Deluxe Wheel can fetch $400+ then $550 for an NOS Wood Wheel is cheap. Bought time someone mass produces correct repros for Dlx. & Custom Sport Wheels. (back) Subject: Re: Rant...I like the aztek From: <Studderin@aol.com> Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2001 23:11:46 EDT I was getting sick of "new" cars. They all look the same, The only GM's that got updated more than new wheels or tail lights was = maybe the F-bodies. The body style change VERY slow compared to into = 60-70's. I guess if you think about it I'm just a little sick of how the cars = change so slow, The cavilers, grand prixs and even trucks change like every 3-7 years! Dodge hasn't changed that "MACK" truck look now In almost 10 YEARS! = And I don't like the PT cruiser, it's a cut and paste under powered = trash can. The Aztec is it's own car, nothing else is like it. That's what = "new" cars are about. Not the same body shell that has been made sense 1998 = with a new intior color and different wheels.

They do all kinds of stupid things to = them to same money. I assume there sent to some slave shop in China or Taiwan. Because they drill the threads out for the needle/seat assumably and the = main jets and press in a POS soft metal ones and very had to find (press fit). = I don't remember what else they did (there were lots of unserviceable thing they did). And it had to have been reassembled with probably an air tool = cuz they over tightend everything till the heads stripped. (over seas torque setting) the air horn has warped pretty good too. This carb was from NAPA I believe, but would assume that ever = other place (Y1, CI, ect.) Sell something simlar cuz Rochester Products now = Valeo hasn't cast a carb in years. Edlebrock owns the pat. to cast the Q-jet = 4M's but there don't make 2G's as you need. You can rebuild yours? I've heard good things about JET in calif. for rebuild. They can do alot = of differnt work on a carb that needs machine work or bushings. John Costello Rochester NY.

(back) Subject: Re: Adhesives/Caulking From: "Glenn Uettwiller" <birdman@gdi.net> Date: Sat, 07 Apr 2001 00:17:47 -0400 Hey Steve, glad to hear about ANY Sprints on the list, especially convertibles. That still-pliable caulk is the same stuff we use on motorhomes to install a lot of stuff on the exterior. We call it "seam tape", and lay it down before installing roof vent frames, ladder pedestals, and the like. We sell a 20 foot roll for less than $5. Check with any RV dealer in your area. I can't ID that dark stuff on the floorpan seams, but the white stuff is body seam sealer. The seam sealer I used on the driprails of my coach last week was the most awesome seam sealer I ever used. It's 3M Ultrapro Urethane Seam Sealer PN 08360 (white). I know it also comes in grey, and maybe in black with different part numbers. It comes in a soft tube that looks like a sausage, and requires using a special caulking gun made for it. It's a little pricey (lists @ about $18 a tube), and I still haven't figured out how to get it off my skin after a week. No more leaks into the motorhome in the rain though. Check with autobody suppliers. This stuff should work great for any seams you need to close up. Just remember to work FAST. My rain gutters (driprails) are about 22 feet long, and by the time I got the sealer laid down at the end, the end I started from was already skinning over. (back) Subject: Re: PCV question From: <Studderin@aol.com> Date: Sat, 7 Apr 2001 00:57:10 EDT The actual PCV valve goes in the valley pan. 67 the hole in the rear = pass. Side 68+ front pass. side. There a thick grommet in the valley pan = that gets pretty tried out and doesn't seal good to suck out the crank presser. = It's a very important over looked system the better the better the PCV is sealed (more vacum) the less oil leaks.
