(back) Subject: I have extra cocktail shakers From: "bird@mail.javanet.com" <bird@mail.javanet.com> Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 11:42:08 -0400   Hi all,   A few years ago I rescued a matching front-only set of cocktail shakers. = I paid $35 apiece and thought I might use them. I doubt I will, my '67 = doesn't need them. If someone here on the list wants them [TO USE, not to = resell - honor system!] they can have them for what I paid. They are a = bit rough - they need to be sanded, primed and painted, and one of them = needs to be cut away from the sheet metal to which it is attached. I was = going to do this myself but I've never gotten around to it. They would be = a bitch to ship but we could probably figure something out.   If someone's interested, I now possess a digital camera and I could email = photos.   LMK,   Dan Kagan bird@javanet.com 1992 Firebird convertible 1967 Firebird convertible   -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mail2Web - Check your email from the web at http://www.mail2web.com/ .

From: "Lee Gilbreath" <firebirds42@hotmail.com> Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 11:45:14 -0400   They are extra weights added to the front and rear of the Convertible = which are shaped somewhat like large salt and pepper shakers. You can see = them and the locations of the front pair on my home page, listed below. To the best of my understanding they are for dampening and stabilization. = This may be disputed, however. There has been no small amount of = discussion regarding their reasons for existence in the history of Threads = on the list.   My advice? Get a convertible! You'll have your very own Cocktail Shakers = and one of the sharpest cars ever to pound the pavement! :)   Lee 67 Signet Gold on Signet Gold 326 Coupe 68 Alpine Blue on Teal Sprint Convertible - in Restoration http://user.icx.net/~lee4uhere/68bird   ----- Original Message ----- From: John Moore <sirsaber@mcn.net> To: First Generation Firebird-L <Firebird-L@oakmediacreations.com> Sent: Saturday, April 21, 2001 1:08 AM Subject: Cocktail Shaker's?     > First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List > = ......................................................................... > Okay, I give....what are these darn cocktail shakers? > > >

(back) Subject: Re: convertible headliner From: "Glenn Uettwiller" <birdman@gdi.net> Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 14:11:54 -0400   Carl, I have seen many convertibles with headliners - old VW bugs, Rolls Royces, Chrysler LeBaron etc. Some are better than others. As far as your 'bird, my first convertible had a white top (not original) with black lining. It was faded badly, about like the '92 Sunbird I now have. I remember using a spray dye for cloth on the lining and the side pads that held up for a couple of years. I also sanded and painted the top frame at that time. Looked pretty good for a while. If I can find that type of dye now, I can touch-up the Sunbird.   Glenn aka birdman     elrack wrote: > > First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List > = ......................................................................... > The interior of my convertible top is starting to look quite ratty but = the > exterior isn't bad.
