QUESTION From: "Bob Trimpe" <fyrebird68@hotmail.com> Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 22:04:57 -0400   Run a wire from one side of the amp gauge to the distribution block near = the positive post of the battery. Add a fusible link to protect the meter. Run = a wire from the other side of the gauge to the red wire connected to the = horn relay. The meter will deflect one way or the other, showing you the = polarity (direction) of the current flow between the alternator and the battery. = The amount of deflection will be the difference in voltage between the two points, indicating how much charging or discharging.   Mine gauge needle runs slightly to the right of center during normal, warmed-up operation.   Bob Trimpe     >From: Nhra68@aol.com > >Subject: Re: Rally gauges installed! (back) Subject: Re: New Topic-Coolest color combos for 2001 From: "bird" <bird@javanet.com> Date: Sat, 28 Apr 2001 07:59:25 -0400   Hi Ken - usually when people ask for subjective advice on this group you ultimately get "do whatever you like, it's your car" or some variant. In this instance however I'm not going to do that. I am almost always in the camp of preserving originality. In your case, however, I can't imagine a worse color combination than a triple white (yeah, I know, it's = "parchment" but still) 326 with vinyl roof. Uggggh!!! Yuck.   So my next question would be how's the interior? If you intend to keep it you need to pick a color that looks good with parchment interior. Otherwise, you need to find a color that looks good with black interior since that's by far the easiest interior to find repro. Also you need to decide if you want to keep the vinyl top, keep it white or change the color, or lose it altogether.   Having said this, I will start the ball rolling with a firm suggestion. = One of my good friends has a 67 coupe. It has parchment interior, white vinyl =   top, and the color is, TA-DA!, Code NN (I believe) burgundy. It has a specific Pontiac name that I don't recall. Something "mist" maybe. In fact it may be the color of Mattison's car. In any event, it looks great on a coupe with the parchment.   Whatever you do, don't do three separate colors (top/interior/exterior). Two color cars look much better. And don't do resale red.   There! Free useless advice.
