(back) Subject: RE: Engine Rebuild From: "Slobird" <marcts@ga.prestige.net> Date: Wed, 9 May 2001 20:21:37 -0400     I agree with Frank, that seems like a lame cam to me. Compression needs = to be in the low 9's or you are in trouble with pump gas. I am running the xe268 in my 455, which is 224/230 @.050 idles fine and pulls hard off the line with a 2.56 gear.   What rear gear and trans are u running? This will decide what cam you should use.

(back) Subject: Ram Air intake with A/C? From: <E21pilot@aol.com> Date: Wed, 09 May 2001 21:35:51 EDT   I was told that 1969 RAM AIR 3 and 4 engines did not have A/C as an option = and I've never seen a RAM AIR engine with A/C. Is this true? Has anyone = added A/C (OE or after market) to a RAM AIR engine?   Thanks,   Rich W.
(back) Subject: Re: 69 HEI Hookup Revisited From: "Joe Brown" <jb.pb@gte.net> Date: Wed, 9 May 2001 21:54:28 -0400   If you check the wire going to the coil with it off the coil you will = have 12v , when connect to the coil it drop to 6v . So I do not believe the = last 12" of the wire is resistance , it is the total length of wire , Mopars = used the firewall mounted resistor . I used a 12v source and switched it , hid the switch for anti-theft . If the 6v source is hooked up to HEI you will have hard starting , long cranking before starting , power will fade under hard acceleration after 3500 rpm's . The first post was a good one , I wish I had that info 8 years ago . Joe
(back) Subject: Re: Engine Rebuild From: "Joe Brown" <jb.pb@gte.net> Date: Wed, 9 May 2001 22:25:42 -0400   Do not let C.R. go over 9:1 or 9.5:1 . The cam selection is lame for a 400 , step it up a notch . Go with a 068 stock type cam with auto trans or the 744 if you have a 4-speed with 3:08 gears or steeper . A good ignition system will help make it run , scrap the points . KB pistons is something = to look at, but $$$$ . Joe
