I went and checked out the car used in the Matrix Reloaded.
Besides that letter from the director, there was insurance cards and reg cards listing Warner Bros as the partial owner. So the car appears legit and documented as a movie car.
The car itself was actually pretty nice. The car was painted black cherry, like the vette color, maroon in the light and black in the shade/dark. The paint was driver quality with some drips and rund here and there, but not bad.
The body seemed really nice and rust free. Floor boards/trunk were all rust free original. Body panels all matched and lined up better than factory.
I couldn't tell what size motor it had, it was a 68 or later since it had a vin plate & #s. It ran pretty ruff, they told me the car sat for 3 years, and a shop did about $1,500 worth of gasket replacements but it need a carb rebuild and some timing work. Brakes were ok, but probably need work since it sat, but it stopped OK. Tranny seemed OK
Interior was mint.
I'd say it as worth up to $10K, but not much over that.

This Firebird is also supposedly one of two used in the same movie and is on "Motortopia", it located in Bethesda, Maryland. Here is the link - http://www.motortopia.com/vehicles/view/p/cars/v/6452/i/reloaded This Pontiac started out life as a 1967 Montreux Blue Firebird with a mild 326 V8 engine, which was later replaced with a modified YD-code Pontiac 400 block. A TH400 transmission, Hurst floor shifter, and a 3.55 rear end were added to the drivetrain.
The Firebird’s first known stunt duty was in Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys II (filmed in Miami and starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence), where it was one of the Haitian gangsters’ vehicles. The fuel tank was replaced with an 8-gallon fuel cell in the trunk, and the vehicle was fitted with structural cross braces with skid plates at the front and rear underside, as well as a heavy duty aluminum radiator mounted to the front cross brace.
After filming, Sony transferred the title to Cinema Vehicle Services (CVS) in North Hollywood, California, the largest movie and picture car rental house in the world. CVS never titled the vehicle, since it was never to be used on public roads.
Cinema Vehicle Services provided the vehicle to Warner Brothers for the filming of The Matrix Reloaded. The vehicle was one of two screen-used purple Firebirds used in the highway battle scene, one of which was destroyed. In this scene, Niobe used the Firebird to catch Morpheus when he fell off the tractor trailer. This is the only stunt vehicle to come back from the movie intact.

A few years ago I looked at a "Matrix Reloaded" car that was offered for sale by Cinema Vehicle Services in Hollywood. They said there was two cars made for the movie. One was destroyed making the movie. The backup car was the one they offered for sale. And it is apparently the car in Maryland now.
The big deal to me is that the backup car was apparently not in the movie at all. The backup car was a car that it looked like to me they put together in a hurry. Rust bubble were already showing on the paint on the lower rear quarters. It also strangely had a rear camaro type spoiler(the car in the movie did not). But it did have the Pontiac arrowhead on the bumper with a flat hood.
Now we have another Matrix Reloaded car.
So will the real "Matrix Reloaded" backup car please stand up?

he states in the video it is a 69 I know but in the comments below the video he corrects himself by saying - Sorry I meant to say that it was a 1967 Firebird, NOT a 1969

Hi All, With regard to the Firebird for sale from the Matrix Reloaded: I bought the 67 Firebird from the eBay auction. It was just delivered yesterday afternoon. First off, it looks great. I took it to my Chevy dealer/friend and he had his service dept do some tune-up work (check fluids, brakes, etc...). I've been driving it around town most of the day today, but it's gotten a bit hot with no A/C. The car came with the letter from the director of the Matrix films (Andy Wachowski) and the former title licensed to his company. From his letter, I understand there were 4 or 5 Firebirds used in the car chase. At least 3 of them were destroyed. This particular car was the "beauty car", or the car in which they did the close-ups. That's why the director kept this one after the filming was completed. We're not sure what size the engine is...it's either a 350 or a 400, but I'm leaning heavily to the 350 option. My plans are to take it to the Year One guys (I live no too far from their headquarters in Northeast Georgia) and start some restoration work. The car isn't numbers matching, so I plan to update some of the mechanics of the car - add power steering, power brakes, A/C. If I could figure out how to post a picture of it, I would....maybe here in a few minutes. Take care
