I would like to meet everyone on this site, But i really would like to talk to a few members about 230 or 250 sprint ohc engine. please feel free to write me here or Jewettrichard@aol.com or facebook . or even ask me for my call phone number
The OHC6 Forum is the greatest resource of all things OHC6. It is run by Jeff Hamlin and is very helpful on these unique, cool engines. Been running a Sprint for 25+ years and I only wish there had been a clearing house of info like that back in the day. There is an awesome link to a weblog on how to rebuild a Cammer with all of it's nuances versus a Stovebolt 6.
"Stovebolt"... WOW! Hadn't heard that one in a LONG time! Common reference to the old 216 and 235 Chevys... I believe the '37 CAR was often called that, as well. Something to do with the hardware they used on the body...
Jeff IS a great guy, and very knowledgeable.
We've done a couple of those. One is a 250 that makes right at 3256 HP. Nate Martin's '66 Sprint. He calls it "the angry hornets"...
I have what's "left" of a 250 core here. Good intake and exhaust (4-bbl), fair block. Good head, no cam or carrier.
The stovebolt reference is a slam against all of the "know it all's" that the cammer was just a Chevy with a different cam. I then ask them to point out where the chevy lifter covers are, how did they machine that pad for the accessory housing, etc.
When I go to a show I get 3 types of comments about the cammer: 1-what is that engine? 2-why dont you put in a 400 and the best-Holy cow I haven't seen one of those is 20-30 years. man they could run.
