First Generation Firebird

I am looking at a 1968 firebird 400 and am told by the owner that the engine block code is 0394266 YS. Is this the correct engine for this car? Also, should the last numbers on the block be the same as on the VIN - like in a corvette? I'm new to firebirds, but have always wanted one so any guidance is appreciated!

YS codes were used for GTOs. I think the other numbers are the engine unit code. You would have to match this to the PHS documents.
