Just thought about the fact that we lost the car show section quite sometime ago. I was thinking maybe we should start a thread for your favorite pic of your car. Can we do that or will it take too much bandwidth?
Will it delete even if it's refreshed every couple of weeks with a new post? That will be the task, find THE one that you like best. The good thing is you could change it once in awhile to a new favorite.
Bjorn, THAT is a beautiful shot! (Buick wheels and all)
Very Nice!

Scenic views from across the globe all in one place!! We just got a 19 year old Brazilian receptionist and my wife started bringing my lunch up to the office every day. Strange coincidence.
Gordon, can you drive up and down my driveway a few times? I need some re-grading done after all the snow and plowing put a huge ridge down the middle.
I think that front plow looks to be the perfect height for my driveway to get that done.
thanks in advance!

Simple, there are no inner fenders. Only rub I got at the track was when I was riding the curbs to high, the rears would occasionally rub the inner wheel well. Adjusted my line and it wasn't an issue.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
cleaned up for a cruise and returning home You can see in the second pic how bright my tail lights are ,I took all the lights apart this past winter and cleaned the housings and polished the lenses .
Here's one from this morning showing off her new top!

Gotta get used to those gears! 3rd and 4th are not where "they should be" based on the truck I used to drive.
Of course it started raining about an hour after I got to work. Only lasted 20 mins at least. She already needed a bath. Oh well.

Thanks Craig ...I'm debating removing the plow given all the bad press they're getting around here, and the fact winters have been mild down here. Ha! However, the air cleaner sticker really helps clarify what's under it at the car shows. ...although I still get - is that a real 400? So maybe it is pointless! I'll put my YT sticker on the block that's been sitting in the glove box forever, and see if that helps. PS: really like that 4spd of yours!!!

well, a comment on the 'plow'...if you "drive" that car, the plow really helps...gets better steering at speeds over 80...gets the front wheels on the ground! but if you dont drive over 65, no problem...but then why have a 400?lol
Slightly off topic here I guess, but I've been admiring the wheels/rims on all of these cars, and I was wondering which ones were actually stock options on the FGFs. Saw some of the 5-spoke PMD rims on a '68 bird at a cruise-in over the weekend and they look way better than the granny-wheel covers I've got on mine. Are these 5-spoke ones the ones you guys are mentioning in earlier threads about being Buick rims? I'd prefer to keep things as original as possible as opposed to just picking whatever looks good. Also, do most people end up putting wider tires on? If so, can you go much wider without worrying about getting stone chips in the paint behind the rear wheels?
5 spoke PMD rims were called the rallye wheels , an option.... the Buick rims referred to are on my car and are lots skinnier spokes...and chrome, I like them because of the 'look' plus no trim rings ,to scuff or loose...the Pontiac rallye rims are wider spokes and painted

OK...she's back from some recent paint touchup and the paint shop did a beautiful job of blending inexpensively for me after I completed all the body work, as still 3/4 of the paint is from the previous 1998-ish resto. But now no more primer spots, and far less embarrassing to look at than she was this entire past summer. So other than still having a dingy white top that needs a serious cleaning...here are the first official pics of my FINALLY cosmetically "finished" (as if there ever is such a thing) 68 400 vert-clone-restomod-driver-non-original-but-fun-as-heck-to-beat-on-or-whatever-you-wanna-call-it-machine...
PHS says it was born as a 350 2bbl car. I never have seen any of the original parts, and this car was severely molested and very poorly restored once long before I bought it. Current drivetrain is 1970 Firebird 400 engine, 1977 era Cliff Ruggles recipe Qjet, 3.08 posi rear out of a 1974 Nova and TH350 automatic out of who-knows-what...
Figured I better take a few quick fresh pics now so I remember how good she CAN look, cuz about 1 week from now I anticipate I will probably be touching up multiple rock chips already...I know how I drive LOL. A trailer queen she certainly is NOT...
And the other angles...I really need to add a snowplow spoiler to the front to compliment the BEAUTIFUL Camaro rear spoiler which I LOVE and encourage ALL FGF owners to install... Maybe soon...
And lest you think she looks KINDA originalish (she is far from it)...here's how I molested her underbelly a year or two ago while I was tackling severe rust-out repairs and replacing both full rear frame rails and doing some floor patches. I figured integrating some subframe connectors and a rear crossmember was in order, just for the sake of making her a much better cornering machine and performance driver. Greatest handling improvement I ever completed, and a very fun winter project. This chassis is now as stiff as you can get it without going full roll cage, and nothing can be seen from the topside except a subtle little bump under the carpet at rear seat passenger's feet where the connectors poke thru the floor. Purists look away....
Hello all!! Haven't been on here FOREVER! I'm back over in Afghanistan, working as a Computer Network Defense/Information Assurance manager. Been here since May. If you all remember, when I came home from Iraq in May 2012, I had just bought a 68 Firebird convertible. I found some issues with the car once I got home..and it turned to be worse than I thought. I have a bunch of pics, but I wont post all here. Here's the car in it's final couple weeks.
The car has had the floorpans replaced, trunk pan, inner rear fender wells, and rear quarters replaced. Two new doors were put on it because the door skins were not put on correctly by the PO. Car got front fenders cleaned up, everything straightened, and stripped. House of Kolor Wild Cherry Candy was painted over black base. Soon as it's done, it goes to get a new StayFast top with glass rear window, the front seats recovered...then it will time for OD trans. I'll post questions on that in another forum.

Had to get a sound bite before the tear down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgFymd6RcGU Should sound better when it goes back in after all the dough I'm dumping in her. Turn it up and enjoy!!(I hate the whine from the electric fuel pump but what are you going to do?)
Very nice. Gold on gold. Beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen an insulator collar around the upper radiator hose. Is that a 67 thing? I kind of forgot about this show and tell thread. Gotta post a pic of my latest project.
very pretty. I am envios of that picture. Hey in your video before teardown of your engine compartment it shows some kind of a reinforcement across the front of your engine tying your suspension together. Can you elaborate? btw, different intake and exhaust rockers. Same ratio?
The braces are based on the Hotchkis design. They call them handlebars. For years I looked at the Herb Adams ones. Just never pulled the trigger. Glad I didn't. This is a much better design. No cross brace on the HA design. I actually made a couple of sets of these and have enough material to make one more set. Quite a noticable difference from before to after. The front end feels very tight indeed. Almost like the car has a full frame. Not all bouncy feeling. You don't realize it till it's gone. the intakes are SS 1.65:1, the exhaust are HS 1.6:1 because I'm running a single pattern cam. Just gives a little more lift on the cylinder filling cycle.
Looks like just a few spins around the driveway. ..

It was great here as well. Sloppy but great. My buddy has a Quad and he loves to plow with it.
I am spoiled- blade on the truck, no more open cab tractor with a back blade! Coffee and a radio...

Two, a 350 and 400, of the fabulous 5 in verdero green showed up at the same cruise in.
So, I have heard about this guy for about a year and actually been called his name because there are not too many firebirds around here. Mine is on the right. We thought it was pretty interesting. Got lots of thumbs up. Two firebirds is rare, but two original verdero greens in same place at same time priceless. His even still had original and uncracked deluxe steering wheel and original drivetrain.
Robert, I noticed the intake and exhaust rockers are not the same, what's the scoop. More lift on exhaust? Are they different brands? I've tried to upload a couple pics of my car but apparently they have too many bits or pieces ...won't work. I've tried to get them smaller. I hope they end up big enough to see.
Nice looking car Al. Those poli-locks look long. You must be running some pretty tall valve covers. My Exhaust are Harland Sharp 1.5s. Intakes are 1.6 stainless steel ProComp brand just to give it a little more opportunity to fill the cylinders. The exhausts flow well enough they don't need the extra help.
I have no booster but I did put a small ding in the driver's side cover hitting the wiper motor while installing the engine. Can't notice it enough to warrant replacing it.
I went years without one. My wife claimed the side with the electric door opener right after we signed the mortgage, I can just squeeze by the front of the car and the work bench if I suck in my gut. The wife's Blazer and the bike go out when I work on the car so I can angle it in.
FInally got mine a good cleaning and took it out Saturday for a drive to the resevoir. Almost done- minor things to work on. A new set of Redline shoes will be coming in Jan.

Good luck. I got caught out in the rain 2 weeks ago. It wasn't unexpected though. The skies were pretty iffy when I left in the morning for the cruise in. I probably wouldn't have gone but It was at the AC Cobra museum and I wanted to put the fear of God into the ford owners. Thank goodness for rain-x.

One of these days I'll have someone record a tire roast. The new motor is still running well. I have gotten it out for a couple several hundred mile runs this summer besides the short trips and it seems to be hanging in there.
Vedoro green is the color. I went slightly darker a shade darker. Never thought that the color would be so nice. I was worried but now I know it was the right decision.
Just wanted to refresh this thread. Link to the video of my new cut-outs. Pretty funny the reaction they get. Mostly smiles from everyone but my wife.😎

Got some pics of the bird on the chassis dyno couple weeks ago at the Torquemasters car club "dyno days", not just the pistons but most of the rest of the car as well. Only other Pontiac was this very nice Acadian, Canada's version of the Tempest.
Here is my latest pic from a cruise they have once a month in Golden Colorado. I was heading south and saw this on the side of a car wash. The wife got tossed around as I slammed on the brakes and swerved in so I could get a picture.
