I removed the eng/ trans together, now my engine is at the shop for another month, so I was thinking of installing the trans first, any opinions on this ? Thanks
Have done this both ways several times. I always install the engine and tranny together now. But then I have always been dealing with automatic cars.
The issue is getting the torque converter properly lined up with the flywheel when trying to mate the engine to the tranny with both inside the car. If you pull the torque converter out of its alignment with the front pump of the tranny (VERY easy to do) then you will destroy the tranny in short order upon startup.
MUCH easier to make sure things are properly lined up when they are out of the car (I use the engine hoist and milk crates).
