Hey guys. my '68 was hit while sitting at the garage where it is being worked on. As you can see by the pics not as bad as it couldve been but pretty bummed as it is the original bumper. He clipped it with his rear bumper while leaving bending it forward. He (or insurance should cover it. I've seen here that most guys are not a fan of the repro's quality wise. Seeing $229 to $259 from Classic Industries, Ames, and NPD. Year one has one for $309. I'm guessing they are all pretty much the same. Do you think my original is repairable? Part of the metal on the lower half of the upper part split/tore too. Would be nice to get repaired since it probably needs to be rechromed soon anyway. Whatcha think? Thanks!
P.S. it took off the original bird emblem too, and couldnt be found. Anyone have extras?
Yes it is repairable, and if it is an original, repair it and DO NOT replace it for a repro bumper. See this post https://firstgenfirebird.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=299157#Post299157 for some ideas who to go through to get it repaired and re-chromed. It will be about the same price but slightly higher but you cant beat the fit. I went through these folks http://www.knoxcustomchrome.com/ and you will see the before and after pics for the bumpers I got done in the link for the post.
Agree. Do Not go repop for front bumper. Repair and rechrome your original. Or buy a rechromed original.
