I recently purchased a complete front parking light kit from Ames Performance part number FB400F for my 1968 Firebird. Kit included OER lenses, Softseal gaskets and unidentified light housings. The OER lenses and Softseal gaskets are fine products. The housings are disappointing. The stampings were not finished well. Product is stamped from pre-coated sheet and left as such. The coating is very thin and stretched to bare metal during stamping. Housings are not properly painted. Following a thorough burring, I painted the housings white/grey. Upon assembly I discovered lenses do not fit. Housing is slightly shorter when compared to original and required modification for lens to fit. I also discovered the light sockets are of poor quality making bulb installation very difficult. Finally, lens shoulder screws supplied are considerably shorter than original and barely start in the housing. The shoulder is too short to tighten against the housing as original.
Again, the OER lenses and Softseal gaskets are nice products. Kit was fairly expensive for such poor quality housings.
I agree with all of the above comments. I bought the kit and ran into the Same problems. I have not painted mine yet. I also made my own shoulder screws.
