Not on '68. My originals have that area raised, not cut out.
Agree, only '69's have the cut out. Repops are only made for '69 as well.

Anther 9er on Facebook said he thought his were notched on both sides. I guess they were put away right now but he was going to check them today. So it sounds like maybe 9s did and 8s didn't. Odd.
Is the '69 cut-out different from the first picture? I checked my pictures file and saw a '69 TA convert I took a picture of at a Crusin' Tigers' Show has a much smaller notch and it is in the in the raised area.

Wade, thanks for the pics. So that is the first time that I've seen an actual bolt in that hole. What does it hold?
That is not a bolt ( if you are talking about the notch area buy the Rad. cap ) it is the rubber insert where the A/C Cond. would bolt to, I believe there is a nut inside the rubber, it is missing on the other side.
Ok,got it. Still seems odd that only 9s had the cutout. I would've bet that 7s and 8s would mount the condenser in the same place.
Interesting. It's a detail I never noticed looking at 1st gens. I don't have those bolts or notches on my '68 with AC but cannot see more with the panels in place. The parts illustration book shows a few differences between '68 and '69 AC parts including some brackets. http://www.thefirstgensite.com/library/partscounter/illustrated/heatair/air1.html
Maybe the 7/8 mounted the condenser differently than the 9s. That's the only reason I can think that would change the notch. You never know after all these years what has or hasn't been replaced so it's hard to say what pieces are original to any of these cars.
I have a 69 with factory air that has the cut out on the driver side. on the pass. side it has a u shape cut out for the bolt kind of odd to see the difference, I don't know if some of the parts were replace somewhere in past years.
