Had these dipped and a body shop was paid a lot of money to rebuild them and get them in primer years ago before being put on a shelf, I decided to strip them to bare metal again because I thought the shape looked a little off and I was needing something to do anyway. As I started with the sander the filler kept getting deeper and deeper then the dents and welded scrap metal came through. Looks like it was in a hail storm then beat with a chain, one was bent in the center of the wheel well and didn't have a smooth spot anywhere on it, the other looked to be beat in and shaped with filler. I messed with the best one all day but think I'm throwing in the towel. This is what happens when you get something done and then put it away for years, goes along with the body panels I had replaced just to find out years later I spent a lot of money to have new welded over old

The shop that did these is shut down, he had several unfinished projects there. The shop that screwed up the body is still in business but all I'm able to do to them is pass the word around about how they screwed it up. I found an aftermarket set in Colorado Springs at a decent price just not sure if I can get out there to get them

Have you contacted Colorado68 (Doug) on this at all? Not sure if he is in that area or not. I hope things work out for you.

I have to come up with some funds first, thinking about selling my 4sp setup and sticking with the original th400 to come up with some money. Haven't worked since the end of January and car funds are low. I may try to find someone out there to store them for me until I can make the trip if I get the money to buy them

Can they wrap them in a LOT of Bubble wrap and ship FedEx? I had that done with a Volvo 780 fender I found in Pennsylvania a few years ago....came in perfect shape...
Hello Jerry, this question is for my education ONLY.
What should have been done that you paid for?
Thanks bill v
Repair behind wheel well and Fix a couple parking lot dings, took 2 years to get them back, I'd say they were damaged in his shop and he had a shop helper scab in metal and filler them into shape. $400 and that was in the 90's
