We are going to look into insurance for the bird. I know theres a few out there. What are your suggestions on which company and what are the pro's , con's and the comparisons between plans?

Assuming car is always garaged and is not used as a daily driver, biggest difference I've found is price and mileage restrictions.
Hagerty, Grundy, and American Collectors are the 3 I checked out.

I've had Hagerty for close to 10 years now. Easy to deal with.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! HEMI is amazing! 1998 Silverado Z71 - Father-daughter project 1968 400 coupe - R/A clone (Blue Pearl) (sold) 1967 326 convertible - Sold 1980 T/A SE Bandit - Sold
Some info of whet we're doing and facts that may effect the ins.
1. Garaged always, has been in garage since 1989 2. many parts stored, lots nos 3. only plan on driving if ready, to get to restoration help. no daily or joy this year so very low miles expected if any 4. need ins to get registration incase we get her ready for road
so, we need a plan to cover but, not be over insured. any pointers for what we need?

I'm using American Modern. They include 200 mile towing. You can choose how many miles you want to include and put on it. I've used the towing option once with no hassles. It was cheaper then the others I checked out.
You may want to ask about additional coverage for spare parts. The $500 included in my American Collectors policy covers a tiny fraction of the stuff I have in my garage. And I'very got a lot more in my storage shed.

I have been using Hagerty for several years now. Never had a claim with them so I cannot say how they are in that regard. As for towing, we have AAA so I do not pay extra for the long towing premium. I will say that a couple of other companies we looked at were pretty restrictive - 2500 miles a year max. and practically no driving unless you are going to a car show. Hagerty does not have those restrictions. Cal
Bill, I have had Hagerty for 6 years now and no problems. Your premium is based on what you want your pay out to be for your car if it is destroyed and how many miles you want to drive a year, but it had to be garaged and not be used as a daily driver for the cheaper rates. I have a $20,000.00 guaranteed payout with up to 10,000 miles a year driving and garage kept for $178.00 a year. I dont have any extras though except for the 25 miles (I think) towing but I believe that comes with the policy. They were the cheapest of all the the places I checked and the easiest to deal with and all renewals can be done online.
I did get an online quote from Hagerty of $207 a year, I'll have to talk to Hagerty since the online Q system has more miles then I need. If we get on the road this year, we might be lucky to get to 100 miles.
God, in our condition, towing is going to be pretty important until I get this thing dependable
If something were to happen in the garage, Homeowners would cover, Right ? but not at full value I presume.
If thats correct, man, this classic auto ins is valueable

Not sure about the homeowners ins, but I don't believe you would get what you think it is worth, I think they would only give you what they or blue book says it is worth. Your quote sounds about right, as I think mine first two years I was paying right around the same amount and it included I think towing for up to 50 miles or slightly more, but I took that off a couple of years ago since I am not currently driving it and doing a rebuild on the car.
Great guys Thanks, it seems like most of you guys are comfortable with Hagerty's, I'll probably go with them for that reason. I'll bite the bullet here soon, it makes sense to be covered, even in the garage I do want enough towing coverage. The only driving I hope to do is Driving to restoration shops , motor shops, front end shops etc..
I will shop one last time before finalizing

I just dumped AllHate afgter checking out Progressive..Insured the 68 and the 67 and 68 HO (comp and collision only (not being driven) with the 13 1LE, the Cavalier daily driver and the Harley through Progressive/Hagerty all in one. Both companies combined for the quote.
Was with State Harm prior to that...Once they hook you, they slowly raise rates...gradually.
Full coverage with $500/500 comp collision on the Cavalier and 1LE..$1k comp/collision deductible for the 68 and $500/$500 comp/collision on the HO and 67.
The Harley got an $18k agreed value and a $10k additional replacement on the chrome, Corbin seats, paint. and engine. $250 comp and collision deductible.
All for $2100 a year.
Unreal!
Just a side thought...Do not EVER get automatic payments and paperless billing with Cable TV and Insurance...EVER!!!Take my advice.

One more thing off the list. Went with American classic Ins. $14000 agreed, upto 5000miles, Premium towing and a few other things, $134/yr
were easy to talk to, they felt like the right fit for me
Ordy, Hagerty was $207 first quote and $234 when we added a few things. I'm figuring the difference opposed to yours is where I live. Crazy people, crazy drivers!

Glad you got a good price Bill. And you are probably correct on the price difference.
