I have a 68 FB with no power steering and am looking at adding power steering.
I have a power steering box from a 67 that I'm going to be using to replace the non power 68 box. The 67 has a curved pitman arm and the 68 manual box has a straight pitman arm and they are not interchangeable.
My question is what pitman arm do I need to use? I have to replace the one that's on the 67 there it has to much play. Do I replace with the same one (curved that's on the 67) or do I need a straight one to fit to match the one coming off the 68 non power steering box.
Power steering used the curved arm. Manual used the straight one. Actually on 69s( for sure) and I believe 68s as well, the steering arms were different as well. The PS arms had more drop than the manual ones. Probably had something to do with bump steer. Not going to be as easy as just swapping one and done.
