Got my hinges off and blasted them Saturday then hit them with an etching primer. Waiting on my Eastwood Zinc Phosphate to shoot them with. Not looking forward to lining up that hood again.

Yep, thanks for the tip. I also remembered to stretch them after blasting to get the sand out of the swivels, and from in between the coils before priming.
Harold- What did you do with your brake reservoir top to keep the rust at bay- I haven't treated mine with anything yet.

No, I never noticed that before, but the last one was oval. [censored]. To much running around, and my hands in too many things at once. Thanks for pointing that out Harold, I totally overlooked that. This is the correct set up.

Ok, got the correct Master cylinder bench bled and installed, and the hood hinges sprayed with Easton's Zinc Phosphate. That stuff is pricey- but outstanding quality..
Does anyone else see anything that needs corrected? Between the job, the business and the kids someday's I don't even know which end is up..
Critics welcome!

How correct do you want it? From the picture, I see the alternator bracket is wrong and the wrong type of hose clamps. The wrong bracket looks to have your alternator mounted lower then normal. Other then that, that is all I can see from the picture. The master and hinges look real good.
Yup, I knew about the clamps, anything is welcome Harold. My understanding is that the bracket is lower on non power steering cars than on the ones with power steering.
I have never had a one with power steering, so I don't know for sure. The yard I got this from (Frank's) said this was off of a 68 manual steering.
When compared to yours, it looks like my alt. is sitting where your pwr. steering is. Hmmm.
If I had the dimensions off of a different one, I could compare the two.
Maybe it is mounted to low on the wrong bolt- I will have to look at it closer when I get home, and see what other support areas it uses for mounting on the bottom. Do you happen to have a good pic of your alternator and pump/ pulley set up?

Harold, It looks like you have a second bracket going to the thermostat housing- I am pretty sure that is only for power steering cars.
I found this during a search, I think this is the correct bracket for 1969 manual steering cars. I will have to take a closer look at mine tonight. I still haven't found the correct set up for 68 manual steering cars yet to confirm mine.

There is some conflicting info on these brackets- some say the 68 is a one year only item- slightly different from the 67 and 69. The 69 is supposed to work with other years however.
This is what the manual shows: I will have to check my bracket at lunch, and verify it is correct. I am going to assume so for now, especially since I have been running it this whole time. The alternators on manual steering cars DO sit lower due to the difference in brackets, and basically sit about where the PS pump would be.

Ok, I checked. I have the original bracket and spacer as shown in the Pontiac manual above. Still unclear as to whether or not a 69 is different. I don't have one to compare.

Oh man, you better just gut that whole engine compartment and start all over again. That alt arrangement is...is..well it's just too much! I'm going to have nightmares tonight. I just know it.
Yeah, it's a little obsession for me , but hey- you gotta have a hobby right?
The hardest part is not going absolute full tilt on your car and sacrificing everything else.
Reality check- aisle one

I think Robert just noticed that the engine is installed backwards. I didn't want to say anything to embarrass Craig tho.
