I am trying to determine the 1969 firebird high tone horn number that is stamped on the corner of the horn after the 9000 cast in number. This horn mounts to the radiator support and is not on all birds, just the deluxe and those with options that include a horn.
I appreciate any assistance I could get on this. Thanks!
The low tone horn for a 1969 firebird is mounted under the hood latch. It is identified as a delco remy 9000 477. The 69 Camaro uses the same horn. The horn is date stamped in a fashion like 9D1 which equates to 1969, April, first week. The "I" WAS NOT used, thus a 9k1 is a 1969, October, first week.
I still need the high tone info. It was mounted on the radiator support, on the drivers side, in front of the radiator. It was only on deluxe interior or cars with the decor group or as an option. Maybe on "400" and TA's cars also.
If you have a OE high horn, take a look at its number molded into the horn that begins with 9000 and tell us what the stamped larger numbers were after that please. They aren't easy to see and are in a larger font and stamped, not molded into the horn. I believe it will be a "290".
