Howdy, I plan to rebuild my 67' Pontiac 400 engine /4-speed (all stock with 670 heads, 4-BBL Rochester, etc.). I have a low miles engine with three cylinders with low compression /leakage. Could be lightweight top end rebuild required but I'll likely just do full rebuild.
I want to stay close to a stock rebuild but use select performance components such as new camshaft, etc. to boost HP without getting out of the CR 9 - 10 range - as the car is a weekend driver for me and I want to use pump gas.
I am considering both rotating assemblies /stroker (from Butler or Eagle) but also going ala carte with select parts such as RA IV camshaft, long branch exhaust, etc. My assumption is that going with a assembly kit will make for more complex build and be more expensive.
Any suggestions on how to approach a straightforward build without over complicating the build. I have a limited budget and do not want to get caught up on complicated specs, rebalancing, tuning, changing jets in carb, etc.
