Vikki The information that you gave about the carburator base and lids are correct. But I know about another option that you forgot to mention and I just want to school myself and others about the rare Ram Air options. This system is totally unique than the others. It came with either the pancake system or the close snorkel air system and the Ram Air system, complete with installation instruction in the trunk of the car for the local dealers to install. Parts include in the kits are as follow: 1) Two sets of hood insert, one open, one closed.(color keyed to original color of car.) 2) Carb. base and lid and hood pans(with template).(all painted black.)
Hopping that my statement could be verified by you or the forum. ____________________________________ Juan

If you have an original, then you already knew that the single pair of closed hood ornaments was to have the slotted section cut out for Ram Air operation.

That's one of the thousands of pages that haven't been put on the website, due to lack of time. But I watch this forum, and post them when they are helpful. Those pages are from a Firebird Assembly manual, the Holy Grail of restoration, and I am still looking for one complete copy.
I would indeed like to get all the info online. Only 25 years until retirement, maybe!

Great stuff. As usual thanks for your contributions to the site. you are always resourceful on your replys. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thanks. Keep up the good work. I also think there are many here that make this site what it is. The best place for answers to everything we need to know about our passion. Thanks to all.
If anybody wants to see a good photo of the California only snorkel air cleaner setup, there's one in a restoration article on a CA spec '67 FB 400 in the July 09 edition of Hemmings Muscle Machines.
