You know what's pissing me off( at the moment)? I ordered a pair of USA STANDARD GEAR axles from rock auto. When they arrive they are a pair of Yukon brand. Now if I had wanted Yukon brand axles I would've ordered the dam things. So now if I send them back they are graciously offering to split the shipping cost. Their answer is sometimes companies buy parts from somebody else and rebox them. No, these are Yukon parts in a Yukon box with Yukon part tags on them. I'm sure they will be fine but it is enough to question whether I want to order from them again.
You should mention to them that 'the customer is ALWAYS right'...
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Yep, you only know how good a company is until you need to work out some issues with them. Same happened to me with Summit Racing, they even refused to take the part back, wanted to charge me restocking fees and all kinds of BS. Stopped buying from them 2 years ago. That's why Amazon is my friend....
Well it's kind of a catch 22. I don't generally order small stuff from them because they charge shipping and the savings isn't usually much but for the big buys it sometimes makes it worth it. Then again if they just arbitrarily send whatever they happen to have in the warehouse with no regard to what you ordered, that isn't going to fly with me. Kind of feels like a bait and switch deal. Advertise one thing and delivery something else. I may just call them today and ruffle some feathers with customer service if I can even talk to a real person. I'm not sure that's possible. If I did business like this I wouldn't answer the phone.

They are members and post stuff on T/A Country all the time. If you are a member there, an open posting on that Forum may loosen their opinion... Never looks good when items are not resolved on an open Forum where you are hoping to sell things.

Often when a company like that starts up, their service is great, then when they get big enough that your order isn't going to make an impact on them it's too bad so sad.
It could be that all the companies are having their axles made at the same plant in China, seems to be that way with gear sets. Looks like they are made at the same place with different logos on then and slightly different part numbers. A distributor could order a Motive gear and get a Yukon or Excel instead. The guy putting the parts on the shelf wouldn't know the difference, just puts part 1234 in the 1234 bin, not knowing 1234 is for a Yukon gear axle not a Motive gear axle. The guy picking the order may not know bin 1234 is supposed to have boxes of a different colour, just picks up two and send them to shipping. You most likely got the same axle but with a different logo.
But, when you tell them you got the wrong part they should immediately send you a return postage sticker and have the part replaced, not give you the run around about re-boxing.
The only company I could find that make ring and pinions in the USA is US gear. Unfortunately they don't make them for 8.2 10 bolts, not that I could find anyway. Looks to me they are all made from the same stock in the same plant with different boxes and slightly different part numbers. Excel EXGM8.2373; yukon YKGM8.2373; Motive MGG88.2373; Standard ZGGM8.2373; Sierra SGGM8,2373. A Yukon logo goes a gear and goes in a Yukon box, a Sierra logo goes on a gear and that goes into a Sierra box. Same gear different box.
In my experience it pays to squeak but only to the right person. Years ago I went a couple spirited rounds with a customer service associate from Summit Racing on a large purchase. I was so mad I did a little research and figured out the email address of a company principle. I sent a stern but very businesslike note explaining the situation and my position. Not only was my issue immediately resolved but there must have been a special note added to my customer file as ever since that episode their customer service has been absolutely stellar. I mean, like, beyond my expectations every time, couldn't be happier, customer for life kind of service.
There was a bunch of questions when I was looking into the "received the wrong part" automated return preliminaries that asked if there was a part number affixed to them? If it was the correct PN? Etc... They are the correct axles for the application, just not the brand parts I ordered. I will use them anyway but it just rubbed me the wrong way. One axle is tagged with made in USA. The other one says Made In India.
