I may need to have a fresh battery available when they offload my Firebird - hopefully by the end of this week. So I don't have it to measure the one that's in there now.
The typical auto parts online sites seem to list 3 different top post size groups, 25, 26, and 34. Which one is correct for a V8 car?
Or if somebody has a reproduction battery tray handy and could give me the length and width, I could work backwards from that.

I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
Old wise words from my father are rattling inside my head: "Always install the biggest battery that will fit". I don't want to end up with something too big for the reproduction battery trays.

The R-59 repro battery fits the tray perfectly. Anything bigger would not fit. I did replace my original factory tray with a repro but I think they were the same. I have two repro R-59s but I only measured the one in the car.
My repro R-59 L x W x H is 10 3/16 x 6 3/4 x 7 3/4 with the post an additional 3/4.
The repro specs at batterycentral mall.com for the R-59 are 10 1/4 x 6 3/4 x 9 (including the post). (I can't explain the 1/2' height difference. The 1/16 length difference could be me measuring the top where they measured the base?)
Many thanks as this info was invaluable. My friend drove down to check out my car this evening before Passport comes to pick it up in OK tomorrow and deliver it to me.
The first thing he found is that the painter apparently just moved a battery from car to car as needed to move them around the shop and my battery tray was empty. So my friend had to run off to the nearest Walmart to get a fresh battery in his effort to see if he can get it running.
