I have a 1968 Firebird 400 engine that I have had for over 25 years. I bought it in California when I lived there. It is a YT 568612 code, Block Casting 9790071, and Date code B158. It also has a Van Nuys (Los Angles) assembly plant code in the partial VIN 28L102428 stamped on the block. I'd really like to see if the Firebird 400 car that this engine originally came in still exists and if the current owner would like this engine to have a numbers matching vehicle. The car would have been either VIN 223378L102428 if it was a coupe or 223678L102428 if it was a convertible. I tried PHS but they said they do not maintain a VIN registry. Any help from the greater Firebird community would be greatly appreciated.
