I am installing a remote mirror in my 67 Firebird that did not have one. I am looking to find the correct location for the switch location. Any help would be greatful, Thanks.
As I had some extra time on my way out tis am ,and I`m only 3.2 mi from my office I decided to download these pics... sorry they are a bit bright ,I had quite a bit of morning sunlight come in the garage door , it faces East... but hopefylly this will give you what you need.
if it looks different from your door panel...might be that I have the deluxe panels.
Out of curiousity I went out in the garage and looked at mine and it is not the same as yours Bjorn. Mine is about 1" higher. Not only that, the shape of mine is different. I'll take some pics and post them.
I've collected some pictures of the remote mirror control. Most show the control under the corner of the vent window glass, but one is more under the center of the glass. Not sure why the position is different. Were the holes hand-punched at the factory?
Bjorn's is the same as the one in my 68 standard interior.
Glad I found this thread, trying to figure out where mine should go on my '68 convertible.. Original remote mirror, power window 400 auto standard interior console car, but interior was stripped when I got it. Honestly, there isn't much original to the car and most of the sheet metal has now been replaced.

Good luck finding those Gus. I have looked around for those myself, but all the suppliers of door panels only sell them with the long single chrome piece. I actually saved my old door panels when I stripped my car, for references and just incase sanerios and I am glad I did. I had to pull my old chrome pieces off and will be putting them on the new door panel after I pull off the chrome piece from the new panel. I would look around for someone selling a used original door panel, which may also be hard to come by. Hope you find some man and I will keep my eye open for you.
I need the door panel chrome (2 pieces) that go to the left and right of the remote switch. Anyone have those pieces?
I "should" have those "somewhere". I changed my coupe from standard to deluxe and saved all the hardware.
Finding it all may be a different story. Pulled those off two or three years ago.
-update- just found the little trim strip in my box of tricks under my desk. The longer one is likely in my storage shed. But for sure I have the chrome remote bezel and the short trim strip.

Bjorn's pictures show a 'standard' remote hardware bezel installed in a 'deluxe' door panel.
Hank's picture is the correct bezel for a deluxe interior.

I know this is an old post but if someone reading this has a '68 with a standard interior having the remote mirror and the bezel mounted in the stock location, I need the length of the two chrome strips that the bezel sits between. Going to try and modify an old strip and see if I can make it work. Thanks in advance!
