I took the rear seats out of the 80 firebird. Removed the rear seatbelt. Found a pretty good size hole. Actually nothing holding the seatbelt to the car. I bought a new floor pan. Cut out the driver side rear seat pan (rear passenger side is the same issue, just haven’t cut it out yet, broke the spring on my air chisel). I can’t help but think there should be something else under the floor pan to connect to side of car. But I don’t know. Maybe it is the rear wheel inner tub? If it is rear wheel inner tub, can I replace that with body still on the frame? It looks like there should be a piece that goes from the right side of the frame member to the side of the car.
All help is greatly appreciated!
I am new to refurbishing old cars and will have lots of questions.
I am pretty sure it is not the wheel well or tub. It looks like there should be a piece attached to the frame that goes up to the bottom of the tub. It looks like a piece has been welded in there but it does not go the whole way to the back and it is rusted out as well.
