I had my engine rebuilt less than 500 miles or 3 years ago.
It was stroked to 461 with stock compression, edelbrock heads, compcam, holley vacumn secondary, 2 inch primary headers. It was dyno'd at 695 and 715 (without the 2 inch headers).
Anyways, it picked up a vibration this spring, and between the shop that installed the engine and the builder of the T400 trans, there is now significant crankshaft end play. The trans shop says its the engine (thrust bearing) and the other shop says its the torque convertor. Regardless we have to pull the engine and check the end play.
Does anyone have experience with this? I know a bad torque convertor could cause the wear (which is what the install shop is saying) and the trans shop says its an engine problem. No one will accept responsibility for it and we won't really know until we pull the engine.
worn out thrust bearing wont cause a vibration. Vibration would be caused by something else. Run the engine when the transmission is out and narrow it down.
