Hello everyone, I Own/owned a 69 firebird 400 out in the Salt Lake City area. It was stolen in Mid Nov 06. The Car just turned up in a field, fully stripped, frame and all, 3 days ago. If anyone sees or hears of anyone selling parts out of this area. Please contact me at 801-910-8269. Also, If you can, they sell independent GPS devices that can be hidden in your vehicle for aroun $300. A great insurance policy. It's too bad that hindsite is 20/20. I'm just trying to catch the culprits to prevent any other enthusiasts like myself from having their baby stolen and going thru this kind of thing in the future. When I get my next bird, I'll be happy again. Take Care everyone and good luck! Thanks for any help. Regards, John
Sorry to hear about your loss John. Thanks for the heads-up and we hope to see you hear when you get your next bird.

WoW I feel for you man. Hopefully they get caught !! I would be finding out exactly where the various places they put the v.i.n. on that year model so if you do find a few suspect parts you can check.
You never know how dumb crooks can be sometimes.
Check the paper, swap meets and look around for other 69 birds for poss. parts.
Can you think of any parts in particular that we could notice? Parts are parts without something specific to look for. I bet if you could think of something that would really set some of your parts apart from others we would have a good chance of tracking it down. Something like your engine block codes would be a good start. Most crooks selling parts are dumb. They don't realize how small a world it is when it comes to first gen Firebirds.
Keep your eyes on your local craigslist. My brother had a snowmobile stolen a year or so ago and the cops found it for sale on the local craigslist out in Colorado.
Hi Jim, thanks for the words of wisdom and support. Your Black Bird looks exactly like the one I had. I'll send you a pic or attach it to this post once I figure it out. I'll keep you updated if I ever find anything else out.
Yes, let us know. I read a lot of posts and for sale ads every day. I can remember a lot of the past ones too. I would be very happy to help you catch the thief. If you could give us an idea of what went missing and specific info on these parts I believe we would have a decent chance to give you a lead on this. They have to advertise to sell. It's a small world and I bet they want to unload these parts quick. What color was the interior? Condition? What year and size engine?
