Query...which cars got the black shifter ball and which got the white? And why?
My early build 69 had a black one when I bought it. I like to say it's original but I don't know what the car went through in the 10 years between when it was made and I bought it. It was a M-20 4sp/console, 350/2bbl, black deluxe int vinyl top car.

As best I can tell over the years, is dark interiors had the black ball, and light interiors had white.

I don’t remember ever seeing an original white ball

Yes, I had one on a blue '68 with white interior. Was back in the early '80's, and was all original.
I think Gus had (has?) a white one too.

Red interiors likely came with black, but not sure.

Ok. Makes sense. I was wondering which way a light blue interior would go? Probably black ball. Interesting.

White ones are extremely rare. I got one... laugh

I agree, if you had a white interior, the shifter ball was white.
