Does anyone know the easiest and least expensive way to get front disc brakes on a 69 convertible? Currently has Drum. I have the master, and prop valve for disc. I dont mind building it myself but need advise as to what works with 14 inch wheels. Thanks
I've been told that Ames sells a kit that works with 14" wheels and uses the drum spindles. Check with Ames Performance.

You can do it with the stock disc setup with some finesse. I have 14" rally 2's over stock single piston discs. It takes certain 14" wheels and I had to grind the high spots on the aftermarket brackets.
The wheels for drums and the wheels for discs are different. I've been trying to find a photo that shows them both so I can determine which wheels I have.
I have a 68 Conv with 14 drum Rally II's. I found a couple of options for front disc conversions but I needed to get new 14"s or 15"s.

Note there are 2 type of 14" Rally II's rims. Drums rims and Disc rims (Discs are from 67 and have JA Code). Most of the 14" conversion kits will ONLY work with the JA / DISC 14" Rally's. So be careful. https://firstgenfirebird.org/f-a-q/rally-ii-wheel-codes/

Options I found:

https://www.getdiscbrakes.com/afxdc14
https://westernchassis.com/Stock-Spindle-Disc-Brake-Conversion-1967-69-Camaro-Firebird/

I went with the Auto City Classic kit (not installed yet) because it was basically a 69 f-body disc factory setup with Disc spindles (versus mounting on drum spindles). And I found a nice set of 15" Rally IIs to use with them, but the 14" Rally II JAs 'should' work.

Also, AutoCity Classic said they had a 'not on the website' conversation kit with a smaller rotor that would work with 14" drum Rally II's. Of course it was more than the others, if you have drum 14"s and want to keep them, you might want to call and ask.

There were also alot of posts that I found that people with 14" Rallys (drum rims) that would grind off some of the caliper material for clearance and it would work. But I didn't want to go that route.

Good Luck. I looked for 8 months on this topic for my Bird's second resto/refresh currently underway.
They are different but not enough to matter. I just installed a brake conversion and kept my 14 inch drum wheels with no problems.
I have a 68' with factory disc brakes and Rally II wheels 14" x 7" JJ

According to this web-site: http://www.pontiacserver.com/wheels.html the JJ wheels are for 69' Firebird, but there is s ?.

One issue: When I had my tires balanced, they used the flat weights on the inside of the wheel rims (so they would not show) and they did NOT clear. Moved them to the outside and they clear the calipers. Note: Stock 350 suspension.

I went with the SSBC kit that doesn't need new spindles and it worked great.

The only thing I would add is go with 15" wheels, if you're going to change them, 14" tires are becoming fewer and fewer with less options in size and that is a bummer.
