Hey guys/gals, got a Q-jet that I bought a while back and sourced parts to calibrate to a 1969 7029268. Parts sourced through Cliff Ruggles whom I spoke to on the phone and said the core, a 7040244, was a good candidate for the calibration change.
The donor Q-jet is from a 1970 Buick car, federal, automatic transmission.
The primary jets/seats are 0.69 and the metering rods are 39B on the primary and AY on the secondary. New float, accelerator pump, fuel inlet needle and the base plate has been re-bushed on the primary shaft side as well as a reconditioned shaft for a 1967-1970 Pontiac application (accepts bolt on throttle arm for either auto or manual transmission).
The main bowl plugs have been epoxied as to prevent any leakage/flooding issues. I do not have the short filter housing (Pontiac), but the longer filter housing (Buick) is included. All threads in the filter housing inlet are good. All parts were provided by Cliff Ruggles are are ethanol resistant.
I just opened it up today to inspect the condition (and yes I did run it on a Pontiac 350 for a short time) and take pictures. I replaced the air horn gasket upon reassembly.
Also, the secondary air valve lock-out has been removed (I can include it) and the secondary air flaps are slotted as well for the POE circuit (pull over enrichment)
It's not pretty and obviously not for a numbers matching application, but if you want a good rebuilt bolt on and go carburetor for your stock 400, this will work. Not even really sure what it's worth, shoot me an offer we might make a deal!
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
