Finally getting around to putting the leafs I bought over a year ago onto the bird. The rear is a monoleaf axle housing assembly from a 69 Camaro. I have straightened the lower plates that were bent from being torqued down on springs that were about twice as thick as the perches are tall. I am going to cut some blocks and weld them to the spring perches to make up for the difference in the thickness of the multi leaf and mono leaf springs. Anyone know how much space is left between the plate and the perches after the u-bolts are torqued down? I don't want to make the perches so high the plate does not clamp the springs but don't want the lower plates to bend due to the perches being too low either.
Thanks.

Depends if you're going with five leaf or four leaf springs.

Well I made up some steel blocks and drilled the 1/2" holes for the upgrade 1/2" u-bolts. After torquing on the springs there is a 3/32" gap between the plate and perch.
