I bought this exhaust manifold for my ‘68 FB (350, 2bbl). The manifold looks great except a thicker stud that protrudes into the manifold. Is this also originally so or was there an error when replacing the old one? I can’t compare it with the currently installed one because the project to pull the engine will start in 2 months.

Sorry, to coming back to this question .. Any comments if this is the same on an unrepaired/original exhaust manifold? Thanks.

If there's nothing on the other side it's a casting imperfection, probably won't affect performance much, you could try to carefully grind it down if you can reach it. I wouldn't bother

What you see is the end of the stud on which the down pipe is mounted... Here is another picture.

As Bartbird said you could work it with Dremel if it bothered you, I would just because we do such things, but my guess is it doesn't make any noticeable difference.
