Please look closely at the connector to see where the grey and purple wire have been cut. Someone ran a wire from the fuse panel for the shifter bulb. I also noticed the short fuse at the bottom of the fuse box is missing- Is this why they ran a separate wire? Thanks
I'm going to take a stab based on your other thread where we figured out your neutral safety switch was missing -
Your console wiring harness has been butchered and you probably will want to replace it. The new harness will have the correct plug for the neutral switch and the correct wiring for the shifter lights.

Actually the problem was that the short fuse in the fuse box was missing and they rigged a bypass to power the inst panel, shifter light, and nss. I have reconnected all wires correctly by color and and put in the short fuse. No power to the inst panel. Do I have to have the light at the shifter grounded to complete this circuit? I have power coming in on the right side of the short fuse so I know it is getting juice when I turn on the lights. What do you think guys? Thanks
Ok to follow along? Mine has no wire(wires?) to the shifter for reverse lamps. Neutral safty works How many are there for rvse? Found one loose cut one(think its black) under center dash.
