Has anyone found any good after market seats and seat rails that work well in first gen Firebirds? I have tried a couple different seats but the all sit so high I feel so cramped it's awful.
I used the Procar 90 seats in my 69 and they are really comfortable. I am 6'3" and I found my original seats uncomfortable. My head would touch the headliner. Procar 90 allow you to adjust the backrest to fit. You can order them with or without headrests. I chose with as my factory seats have them.
Corbeau Sports Seats with manual lumbar option and Camaro seat brackets here. Fully adjustable and dang comfy. Had to have a buddy mod the brackets to move the seats inboard a tad to clear the factory seat belt retainers. Got them unskinned and had them covered to match my rear seat.

I also have the Corbeau Sports Seats but have not installed them yet as my car is still in the body shop. Salmon, did you use the Corbeau seat brackets? Can you post some pics somewhere so I can see what they look like and maybe explain how to mod the bracket?
No digital pics from back then (2008), but I keep a digital journal and consulted my notes. I used the Camaro seat brackets and shimmed the seats 0.5 inches up (between the seat and the bracket) with aluminum stock and had the bracket feet cut off and rewelded so that the brackets relocated the seats 1.0 inch inboard toward the console. Then the OEM seat belt retractors were OK for the entire fore and aft movement of the seat brackets.

You may find the seat binding on the seat belt retainers if you move the seat all the way back. But those may not be the "Sports Seat" where the seat pan gets significantly wider from back to front.
Or they tweaked the design. I got mine in the early 2000's.

You are correct mine are the GTS2. Which are a bit more narrow. As mentioned previously can’t recommend Corbeau seats enough!!! There is so much of a difference in feel of the car overall.
The Corbeaus sound like the way to go. Do you guys have links to the seats and brackets? I like to screenshot them and save them so i can find them when i'm ready. Thanks.
