Any of you guys been before? I've always wanted to go but they talk like passes are hard to come by unless you have the right documentation. I wonder how tough the vetting process actually is?

I went about 10 years ago. It was awesome in my opinion. I’m going again some day, but you need to be in the industry. I recall an application and business card had to be sent in for approval - they do verify your credentials.
I went the year before last. Company I work for has an automotive branch. One of my buds from the other side of the business hooked me & the wife up. Awesome experience! Will likely go again someday. One must be "in the industry" to gain admission. I heard SEMA's gotten to checking payroll info - don't know how true that is but they do closely vet folks for credentials.
