I just got done installing a new old stock Edelbrook 2156 intake on my 69 350. I also installed a brand new 4 core Rad. When I was filling up the Rad, fluid started leaking on the back and the front of the valley pan. I had 2 other people try to watch where it was coming from with no luck. We had a phone camera shoved under the intake trying to spot possible leaks in the intake and saw nothing. Any clue???
Did you put a new rubber gasket in the intake bypass hole to water pump That’s a common place to overlook and would leak right on the front of valley pan
There's only 3 places coolant can leak from on an intake. 1. The hose neck . 2. The crossover between the heads. 3. The rubber washer gasket in between the timing cover and the intake.
When you tightened down the intake bolts did you get them all started in the heads and then tightened the timing cover bolt first before cinching down the intake bolts? Did you use sealer around the head water ports and the rubber gasket too?
Yes I used sealer around the water port but I did not do anything to the rubber piece that went between the pump and the intake. I tightened the intake bolts down as instructed by the manual and used a torque wrench to get them to exact spec.
I know this sucks but did you test fit the intake to make sure it clears the edge of valley pan I installed a intake on my 350 and it hit the valley pan edge just enough that it wouldn’t seal Dry fit without gaskets to see if it clears and sits on heads correct I know it’s a pain in the [censored] The intake should have some side to side movement to center up If it hits you may have to adjust valley pan a little Worst case you may have to file the edge about 1/16 of an inch if it hits
Put a pressure tester on it and pump it up, doesn't matter if you have enough/any coolant in it...just listen for the air escaping and follow the sound.
That is a great observation but you can actually get an intake gasket that has those holes on both ends But something that should be checked nevertheless
a little maskin and detail ..... and a little felpro goop on the timing cover to intake dougnut ....
always snug the timing cover to intake bolt first ... just snug ... then tighten intake bolts....
rumor has it those coils like to stand up and not lay on their sides also ....
can you get another 1/2 turn on the vacuum tree to aim towards the firewall ?
clean all gasket surfaces with scotch brite and quality brake clean then wipe with clean cloth wetted with brake clean and assemble
gotta get all the antifreeze and all the surfaces recleaned .......
bummer but an easy fix
at least you didnt bust the corner of the intake off where ther was no gasket

You sir are the freaking man!! I did in fact have the gasket on the wrong way. Rookie mistake!! Its my first time fixing up an old classic so I am learning a LOT along the way. Thank you guys for the help! I have a ton more to do so I'm sure there will be more rookie questions to come.
Quality Folks on this forum...I'm in your boat, ninja. Rookie, but loving it. This forum has put me on the right path numerous times. You were wise to send pics. Like having them look over your shoulder.
