I just got finished with the installation of the exhaust preheater body and tubing to the air cleaner on my 69. The new clamps that come with the tubing clamp is something I don't remember seeing before. I believe they are called single ear clips. The tool I've seen for this type of clamp is called "Ear Clamp Pliers" one manufacturer is Knipex. Am I on the right trail here or is there some other tool to use to tighten these clamps?
It's a plier type tool similar to one used to trim a horse's hoofs. You may be able to use a tile nipping tool if you had one. I've used them on hydraulic return lines, air lines and water lines. have to have the size for the job.
I'll post a pic of a blacksmith made tool I've used on smaller clamps
If that’s a similar clamp to the power steering hose clamp, I used two chisels, one in the vise and tapped the second one with a hammer. Half assed but it seemed to work
Thanks for all the ideas. I got a pair of pliers made for the ear type clamps./ They didn't have enough room to squeeze the clamp shut. The photos of tools some of you sent were right on./ Thanks!
