Hello all I have a 68 with a 350 that is currently being rebuilt. The owner of the shop suggested that I look at getting a hood with the ram air intakes for show. I know it is a personal choice but what do you think about replacing the hood.
i had an aftermarket hood put on my 69 ,along with both front fenders.Hood fit fine, fenders was a different story.I believe the hood was from golden legion
My aftermarket 400 hood fit okay but still required some body work to be very good. My original 400 hood was a bit crunchy in too many of the edges to be really worthwhile saving.

I bought a used 400 hood for my "former 350" car, b/c I like the looks , plus P.O> had already switched to a 400 engine....so I 'continued' the conversion....
IMO the biggest appeal to birds has been the twin scoops. I would not be too concerned about "everyone has them" thinking. The car gatherings I have been to hardly have any firebirds there.
Ed Olson has already done it....but a bored out 455...but also a "bored out" TR 6...= lengthened some...but it really doesnt look like a sleeper....but ,really nice....about 1000 Lbs lighter than a bird.
this is the new turbo version...
the turbocharged Pontiac motor hasn't been tested yet, but with a previous 455cid engine this car achieved a 6.02 second, 120mph 1/8th mile.
