Since I have exactly zero experience with a welder, but my neighbor does, would it be better to send the floors out to a pro on my 69 vert?
The rockers are ok, and so is the tunnel. It is just the floor pan left and right as well as the driver toe board. The damage pretty much stops in front of the rear seat shelf.
If I send it out, what sort of price range should I be looking at? In other words, what is too good to be true for price and what is obscene as a price? And do I need to find a body shop that has heavy experience in muscle cars or will any reputable body shop do?
I would do a full floor. I think the floor patches look horrible unless you but weld them and then grind down all of the welds. Which at that point a complete floor might be easier. I had about a week of my spare time into installing my floor. Most of the welds are burned in and do not need much grinding. New toe boards.
Robert, when did you say you were going to start on that full floor for my coupe? Can't seem to remember...

Can someone tell me what A, B and C are in the attached photo?
I think A is the inner rocker, B is the floor pan and C is toe board. I could be wrong, but I am trying to figure this all out before I order anything?
A is the inside flange of the outer rocker,B is the flange of the inner rocker and C is the lower part of the firewall, some will call it the toe panel. All of the parts look like they are from the drivers side front of a convert to me.

Right you are! 69 vert driver front
I had know idea that the rocker was that wide. I thought the kick panel was part of the inner rocker. It must be part of the outer rocker then.
I am just about done doing my floor on a 69 vert. its a lot of work, and would be very expensive to do by a professional. I would replace the whole floor to have a clean look. I braced the car with a square tube square between the doors and across. Since one of my quarters is off also, I had to reinforce where the bracing was attached to make sure nothing moved.
If you don't have a rotisserie you will have a difficult time welding the different areas. It's best to be welding above the area you are working on. I don't have too many pictures at the moment since the camera has disappeared, but as Roberts pictures show mine would be similar. Keep in mind the convertible has alot more welding and fitting than a couple with all the additional braces under the floor.
I will try to post some pics to show you this weekend what I have done. I am next going to be welding in the braces and there is a lot of grinding of my plug welds to follow
You will definitely need a helper. The new floors fit ok, but need messaging to make them fit perfect.
Starting my replacement on my coupe this weekend ill be taking pics as I go. I built a steel stand that has the car about 4 ft off the ground so I can sit to do the cutting and welding. It took 40 ft of 2 x2 square tub then supported under rockers also. I'll post my first pics tomorrow

In the air and got half of the pan out and the driverside toe kick mocked up. I think I could get the whole pan out in an 8hr day only worked about 5 on it and took my time at that

Looks great but you would really enjoy working with a rotisserie. I bought one to use on my 68 Firebird and my 65 wagon. Wagon body is very heavy but it's no problem with the rotisserie. I can put body on, turn the entire body, and move it in and out of the garage by myself.

I'd love to have one just no funds, I built this for nothing, what would something like that cost me, or may even have to try and build one.
I had to have all the options so it was more most people need to spend. But it's the only way to go I figure. When your done with it just sell it. The diff in what you paid less what you sell it is cheap rental cost. Expect to pay $800-$1200. If your experienced welder you can get plans and build it.

I ended up having a body shop weld the floors in. But only after I ordered them from NPD and was about to get started with them in January. Then I bulged out a disc in my back (L4-5) and did not want to chance aggravating it during my recovery.
My question is this:
What can I spray (or should I have the body shop spray) to prevent new rust from setting in on the new panels and the seams?
There is a repro of the rubber or Asphalt underlayment cut to fit in floor area. I think it's 7 pieces total or something like that. Carpet goes over this.
Some people are using the dynamat or similar material to block out noise vibration and heat. This was not original though if that matters.

Either of those will work. Yes that is what I was talking about. I wasn't aware of any paper but mine is long gone if it was there. It's up to you on the $15 up charge for paper.
