I just had my console, radio bezel & ashtray hydrographed.... It turned out amazingly well and will really pop in the car!
Thought I would mention it. No more burlwood stickers! lol
I live in Nashville, and have a great shop to deal with if anyone is interested. Turn-around was fast and I can't really explain how well the pieces turned out!

Check out this link to a 69 on eBay, scroll down till you see the dash and the console. could this have been done with the process you are talking about as it is amazing looking
Finally pics of the hydrographics. Keep in mind that I purposely "brightened" up the shade of the burlwood to make mine pop. Just personal preference. I am sure that you can get this material to match factory shade, if you want to stay totally original. Sorry it took so long to get pics up...
It is much brighter in the sunlight. (See pics)
The guy in the Nashville area does great work, & was easy to deal with. His name is Don. 615.513.2622, tell him I told you to call.

Seems like I spent about $400 total if I remember correctly. They have to strip it all down, prep, paint a base coat under it, hydro graph and then clear-coat it.

Bringing this topic back to life since it has good info for people considering hydro dipping. I just got a pic from the folks doing the hydro dipping on my parts. As you can see I got my top pieces of my console done along with my B&M shifter plate and B&M shifter knob. I decided to go with a custom design of black with silver flames instead of the burlwood. Beats buying a whole new repro console when really the only bad pieces are the top pieces and hydro dipping makes them look like new. Had a company in Raleigh, NC do mine. Thought I would put these up. Been done for almost two years now, still look perfect! These aren't the best pictures, but will give you a good idea of what you can do. HTH!

It is almost like a sticker except that it isn't. The film or applica is placed in a tub of water and allowed to get wet, and then they spray something on it and then they take your part and they dip it into the water/film and it adheres to your part and then they apply a clear coat to help protect it. Down and dirty explanation. I have a link to a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2KR-bCKQCA These folks did mine.
