Sleddog, do you know what style steering wheel that column was for? Apparently the deluxe wheel that's clear on top takes a different attachment. Wondering of that column had it and if the person that bought it needs it if it came with it.
I have another tilt column for '67-'68 that appears to take a screw in turn signal lever. Anyone have thoughts on this? Could it be for a cruise control car?
Hmmm, looking at the Illustrated Parts Index it does appear that the ends of the levers are the same for cruise control and non cruise control. I'll have to make another call...

I do not have any experience with the deluxe steering wheel- maybe others can help? The only thing this column has on top is the horn plate with the spring loaded plunger.
Wovenweb,
Yes, the ends are the same. Everything screws into the column.

From what i remember..there were 2 different turn signal switches, possibly a third. One being a Boyne switch which my 67 400 has..with a non screw lever and tilt.

RE: Killer Price Yes, that is why I jumped on it. My convertible was originally optioned with a tilt wheel from the factory, mostly comfort type items (tilt, power steering, power brakes(drum), power windows, power top) and this is the one item I need to put it back to all its original options. Well, I am switching to discs up front. No A/C on the car however, it was shipped to Canada at some point early on so I guess they didn't feel a need.
As I noted earlier, I've got another column that may or may not work. That one came from a Camaro, but it has some oddities about it, mainly the way the turn signal switch is set up. If I can get that one to work, I will put this one back up for sale at this same price plus what I laid out for shipping. Which will still be a killer price. I've got another car that I could use this one in but that car is running and I don't want to take it apart.

Maybe that's part of our problem, the car originally had a tilt wheel that was of course missing when we got it. Found one on eBay a few years ago but we're not sure if it's out of a Camaro or Firebird. Now that we are getting close to reassembling the car, we keep finding these little "issues". Typical with any build but this is the first restoration we've attempted.
I seen that but the only thing I got from it that the metal piece was part of a column shift (1st and reverse). Could not find any thing on the switch. If it is a floor shift column why does it have that part?
Ok. I found the switch for a 69. So someone but a 69 switch assembly on a 67-68 column?
The guy I bought this from said it came from a 67. He was one of the re-builders for parts companies that offer rebuild services, retiring and cleaning out inventory. I assume he knows what this is and what it fits. Maybe the switch is removable if not desired? Dont know. I will PM the buyer and make sure he is aware of the switch and the lever. FYI- I have seen the same set up on other columns listed for 68 floor shift as well- not sure what to tell you.

I was just hoping someone knew the story. I see something not familiar I have to ask. But yes I've seen that metal part on others and some don't. Mine does not so tring to find out why. On a 4spd nothing connects to it. I don't know about a auto because I don't have one which is why I ask.
Ok I found out the details. A rod connects the automatic transmission to those shift levers when using a colum shifter. It also needs and uses the neutralizer switch. 68 had that as we'll. I found this in the service manual under.7E -7. Some of the columns must have been set up for duel purpose. Maybe manual and automatics got different columns. Interesting.
If I'm looking at them correctly, 7E-7 in the Service Manuals for 1967 and 1968 at thefirstgensite.com are both about draining the transmission.

Cool, now we know. BTW- did you see the supposed 67 vert RA non numbers match on Desmoines Iowa CL? Bout a hundred miles from me.. Exact same color scheme as me, down to the seat belts! He hasn't ran the PHS on it, but someone told him it was RA- who knows?

No but I've been in communication with the guy selling the 400 HO 4spd conv that you sent on Craigslist. It is a real deal and he has all the drivetrain that was swapped out. He is letting it go to but at an extra cost. A guy that is looking at buying it contacted me as well. Don't sond like a bad deal.
