Hi I am restoring my 67 coupe and have just installed the rear suspension. I bought a Hotchkis TVS system for the car and have installed there multi leaf springs using new heavey duty shock mount plates. I am looking at the shocks and am not sue if they now need extending, The car is on jack stands under the rear axle and the shocks are only about 1/2" to long, so if I unload the suspension the springs would be hanging on the fully extended shocks. I bought some shock extenders but they will not fit the thread on the Bilstein shocks. How much should the shocks need to be compressed to fit when the suspension is fully loaded ? One more point is that the car is a shell at present with no sheet metal or engine just the front clip and suspension. Thanks Mark.
I used the Hotchkis TVS rear springs and fox shock they sell. I don't have any issue. I had the car on jack stands ahead of the springs so there was no load on the springs at all. I had no issue putting the springs on.
