Hi I have a 1967 Firebird that has a SBC fitted. The Chevy needs a rebuild and I would like to fit a Pontiac 400 instead. Pontiac engines are like hens teeth in the UK and not cheap. My question is what other things will I have to change if I can find a Pontiac that I can afford. I know it will be different mounts and transmission, but what else would I need or can I still use the Chevy alternator, power steering pump, brackets ect. Thanks Mark.
The Chevy alt will work, but will need Pontiac brackets. The power steering pump will work, IF you can modify the brackets to bolt up to the Pontiac heads & line up with the other pulleys. You'll need all the correct pulleys for the Pontiac engine.
The Chevy trans will work, by using a simple adapter plate, made to mate Chevy trans with BOP engines.
