Well, I'm not about bashing any companies but, maybe I can save some of you a few bucks.
That center link that some of you guys said is not available is spot on info. So, we ordered one from a catolog, the company we ordered it from we'll call company "a". they said the part is not exact but never have any problems with it working and therefor ordered it.
When the part did come in, it was installed and worked with just a little room to spare,,, all ok
Problem is this: company "a" charged us $170 plus shipping, ok have to have it. When I spoke to the shop I asked what the difference was in the part opposed to the original. I had previously told them that part may be a problem. Jeffery told me it was close but had a bend in it, I then drove the car home, garaged it and got back to work. Before I went back to the shop after work to pick up all the old parts I looked up a 69 camaro centerlink on the computer. I end up with a parts catalog, it reads $80 and has a picture, I was able to print the pic by it self. When I get back to the shop I ask Jeffery if the centre link he put in looks like the pic, he replied yup thats exactly it. So this company "a" bought a camaro centre link and sold it to us as a pontiac part at double the price.
I think it would be cheaper for anyone to just order a camaro part if you need one.

I need help, if anyone see's I'm going down the wrong road--Straighten me out!
It's been several years, but I remember buying a correct centerlink (aka draglink) for my '69 Bird from a company called Rare Parts. And I see that they have a website called rareparts.com. You might give them a call and see if they have a correct one for your ride.

You are correct, this is the same place I bought my center link from and it was the correct center link. There are a couple of auto parts stores that sell them from Rare parts but you pat a little more if I recall. Here is the link were you can order directly from rareparts.com http://shop.rareparts.com/smtp/shopdisplaycategories.asp?iyear=1969&imake=0045|PONTIAC&imodel=1135|FIREBIRD&iproduct=0049|STEERING, GEAR, PUMP & COMPONENTS Mind you they are not cheap, but they are the correct parts for the V8 models and they also sell the 6 cyl center links also the V8 center links are part number 26965 and the 6 cyl center links are part number 25793
I actually sent my 1969 v8 center link to Rare Parts and they rebuilt it. Came back painted and looks new. I received my original back as requested, verified by the stamped letter I added on it.
