Had to put a new window motor in my 2003 Silverado last night. While I was at it, I decided it was time to replace a door lock switch assembly as well- got tired of reaching over to unlock the pass side door. The local Oriellys wanted 182.00 for the switch! (mirrors, locks, windows)
I found one on line for 110.00 delivered- but still sheesh! There is also a 150.00 core charge- WTH?

Sometimes if you just take the switch apart and blow off the dust it will magically work again. I picked up a 2000 blazer for a winter beater and there are electrical gremlins galore.
I took it all the way down. Had two green plastic mats in it with copper circuitry running through it. I didn't see any burnt areas, so I assume a resistor or capacitor went rogue.
That's why I LOVE MY PONTIAC so much- easy peasy to work on. ( Most of the time) LOL
Hoping to drop the steering column this winter and get the guages out for a little cleaning and touch up. Also hoping to blast the space saver and jack assembly and get them painted and mounted.

It's more then a switch, it's DDM, drivers door module. If you have what GM calls "camper mirrors", you will need to program it. That's why it's pricey.
Luckily I dont have them- just heated, power, folding, auto darkening and turn signal. But sheesh...
Jeff- are you guys doing ok with all the fires- I bet it's smokey where you are at.

I'm up in Northern Cali, near Sacramento, no smoke here, but we did get some a few weeks ago from the Santa Rosa fire, I know a couple of people that lost everything. I heard they are trying to hang PGE for responsibility.
I hear it's not their first go 'round with this kind of thing.
