Do any of you guys run splash guards on your cars? If so, ideas on which type work well? Just the few times I was able to get mine out last fall, the roads were damp in a few spots and got quite a bit of splash on the car behind each wheel. Wouldn't mind preventing some of that, but don't want to make the car look dumb either. I see NPD offers some that supposedly snap on the wheel house lip, that look decent, however only for the rear.
I used a set on mine in the early 70's. There were chrome and small enough to not look "dumb" but not large enough to make a big difference. I suppose they cut down on a few stone chips more than anything. I had forgotten all about them until your post.
In the early '80's when my '68 was a daily driver, I had vinyl "firebird" labeled black ones. Looked pretty cheesy. I remember seeing the small chrome ones that Jim mentioned too. Those were so samll they weren't worth the effort to install.
I think anything you put on there will look out of place, but if you want to protect the paint... go for it.
I tend to only drive when the roads are dry, so not needed. Would likely help with rock chips tho.
Hey, I even found a picture from back then. Can sort of see them on there:

What's that cheezy Euro trash vent thingy doing on your back window? lol
Those were pretty cool back then. (and easily removed) Unlike the front and rear 'Maro spoilers in those other pictures! :gack!:

Places like Griot's Garage sell a non-permanent clear plastic film that you can place over areas like lower rear fenders to protect them from flung debris. I use it on the lower inner door openings of all my vehicles to prevent shoe scrapes. Lot cleaner than mud flaps and cannot be seen except up really close.

These look alright for something that just slips over the wheelhouse lip, could be easily removed at show or something if wanted and wouldn’t have to drill any holes. Might give em a try.
When I bought my car in '91 it had stainless steel flaps. They were pretty beat up so I changed them a few years later with similar. They were in pretty good shape after the re-paint in '01 so I left them on. A couple years ago they were looking beat up again so I found some on Amazon (used to be able to find them at any auto parts store) and put them back on. I can show you some pretty big dents that show they are earning their keep.
