Closing in on finishing. Got carpet laid down but ther are some wrinkles on trans tunnel. Any hints on how to smooth out. Carpet is laying flat just some creases from shipping
Restored by me. Not a professional. Restaurant worker by trade. YouTube forums and some trial and error built this beauty. Sheet metal replacement. Body work. Paint. Rear gears. Interior. And engine. ALL ME. Toot toot
It needs to lay out in the hot sun for a few days before installing.

I'd be concerned about a hairdryer melting the finish before heating up the backing enough.
Sunlight is more uniform heat.
Maybe a heat lamp?

A sand bag weighing down an electric blanket might get some results. Obviously the sand bag would easily take the shape of the floor, and the electric blanket (or wifes heating pad?) Would be nice heat for the job.
Not all Ideas are good ones..but an Idea nonetheless.
Best luck there. Your post prompted me to unbox my carpet now..right now, install in a week or so.
How do you get to the nuts that hold the horse shoe retainer under the console? Sheesh
Best way to install the carpet is to remove the jute backing from carpet. Then glue it down o floor removing wrinkles. Then glue the carpet down to the jute taking care of removing wrinkles as you go. An yes the carpet needs steamed or heated.

This are rivet nuts that get pressed into place. If they are spinning, you can get a tool you may have to hold them with a set of vice grips from underneath in the trans tunnel.
I saw a Conair portable Turbo Steamer today at Costco. It's just a little handheld thing. I'm thinking about getting one to help with carpet and seat cover install. Only cost $39 and looked pretty cool. Plus the wife can use it on wrinkly cloths.

If you do get it and use it on the carpet and seat, please post back on how it really works and the results it gave you.
