Anyone know who makes a good set of axles that doesnt require any modifications, street purpose only, not going to be doing any wheel stands anytime soon, just a cruiser. 1968 firebird, 8.2 inch
Don't know about no modifications. But Summit lists 2 brands. They both come with spacers, and can be used in several apps. You can read the reviews & decide if you wanna go that way.
The Superior PA6062 is a bit cheaper. Some sites say this is no longer available, & Superior is out of business. Don't know if anybody still has 'em in stock, or not.
I suppose that if there were some cheap exact replacements, somebody would have responded. We ran the factory 8.2 BOP axles in several 12 sec strip cars & never broke one.

I installed this. Perfect fit no issues. 68 Firebird original rear end 8.2 BOP. Local shop pressed on the bearing and don't forget to make sure the mounting plate is in the right spot first.

I second what Gus posted, Jim build me a 8.5 rear end for my 69 and he beefed it up and put in all good parts. He knows what he is doing and he is very knowledgeable on all rear end and what will work and nor work with your car.
